Veterans Home marks 90th anniversary with $4.5 million expansion
The Vermont Veterans Home held a double ceremony Sunday to celebrate its 90th anniversary and to kick off a $4.5 million modernization project. Groundbreaking for Phase III and a nursing home dormitory is planned for March 1075, with construction tearing down the landmark building while preserving the administration building near the fountain. Youth dies in second fatal Londonderry shooting
In Londonderry near Route 100 a 17 year old Rockingham youth Michael John Capen was shot once in the head by a 16 year old hunting companion. Police say the shooting near Boynton Road at 4 30 p m was likely accidental as both boys stalked the same deer. Capen died at the scene and the companion’s name is being withheld pending investigation.
