End zone blunder at Harvard Yale game shocks crowd
Harvard sophomore Eric Crone misread the final play and ran into his own end zone for a safety as Harvard edged Yale 14-12 before about 40,000 at Harvard Stadium. Referee Henry Munder called the safety, noting the play could have produced Yale 16, Harvard 14 if the ball had been recovered or fumbled differently. The incident adds to a history of odd plays in that end zone and leaves officials wary of future chances in Boston football.
