The Bradford annual wild game supper drew 1,350 diners and a media crush as nine game dishes were served from moose, beaver, bear, buffalo, wild boar, deer and more. Dishes included wild boar chops, pheasant rice, rabbit, and coon pie with mashed potatoes, squash, rolls and gingerbread.
POWNAL The newly formed Committee to Improve Horseracing met at Green Mountain Race Track with owner Patrick Rooney and staff. Co chairman Phillip J. ONeill said Rooney signaled no optimism for a 1977 thoroughbred meet and limited harness racing possible only in late 1977. Proposals to boost racing were met with the reply that ideas had been considered, including shorter schedules and higher purses. Purse levels are low, with a minimum of 1300 dollars and typical purses of 1300 to 1500, occasionally 2000, from which race fees are paid.
