North Bennington Village and Town Governance Relationship

An outline by Fred Welling details how North Bennington Village operates under its own charter with a five member board and own water system, while sharing and coordinating services with the Town of Bennington. The village handles local highways, zoning, fire, street lighting, and revenue sharing, while the town provides clerk, police, health, dog control, sewer maintenance, and certain-funded programs. The two governments agree on street construction, and the village retains control over traffic ordinances and local welfare, with the town covering some expenses and services through statutory provisions.
