New St Michael's president warns liberal arts clash with pragmatism
WINOOSKI PARK Dr Edward L Henry the new president of St Michael's College warned that liberal arts education faces a collision with vocational pragmatism and rudderless technology. He said society must develop morally and intellectually excellent people before professional skills and cited Watergate as a model of degraded public behavior. He noted Henry 55 has held multiple civic and academic roles including mayor of St Cloud Minnesota and led community action and local government initiatives. He is the 13th president and second layman at the 1500 student college and is married with nine children.
