Hoff Opens Vermont Agricultural Conference
Gov. Philip H. Hoff opened a daylong statehouse conference on agriculture attended by over 100 Vermont farmers. A. L. McWilliams of the Pure Milk Association urged passage of the Proxmire dairymen class one base plan to cut milk surpluses and ease tax loads, contending markets like New York Boston and Chicago added millions to the national surplus. He criticized Sen. Keating and Sen. Aiken for opposing the bill and urged steps to raise sales while limiting exports and restraining production.
