Vermont Tissue Co. closed for indefinite time
Plant manager Edward G. Woodard said operations at the Vermont Tissue Co. plant on Route 67A are halted after an October 11 explosion damaged drying cans and pipes. Replacement parts are costly and time consuming to fab and install. Two cement basins to treat pollutants are nearly complete, with sewage to flow into them and settle about 84 percent of solids before entering Bennington’s sewer system.
