Hemmings News Expands With Braced-Frame Building
Hemmings Motor News adds a braced-frame structure on Bennington West Road. A gambrel roof is being covered while the oak frame remains visible against Mt. Anthony. Designer David Aldrich notes mortise and tenon joints are rare since 1900. Publisher Terry Ehrich says 90 percent of beams were pre-cut in New Hampshire. The frame went up in a week, costing about $15,000 for design, materials, and labor. Edward Boyle of North Bennington handles finishing.
