Senate Panel Debates Rules for Cigarette Ads
A Senate Commerce Committee closed session weighed three options on cigarette advertising. An outright ban on TV and radio ads could take effect September 30 1970 or January 1 1971. The committee tentatively backed a ban but NAB’s offer revived debate while a FTC health warning issue also loomed.
