Arlington water rate case moves toward board decision
After more than four months, the Public Service Board hearing examiner Rexford Roberts prepares preliminary findings on Arlington Water Co. bid for an 80 percent permanent rate increase. Parties to the hearing, PSB attorney Thomas Viall and water company attorney Alan George, have two weeks to study and comment. Temporary 80 percent hikes remain in effect since March 1973. If approved, pipes will be upgraded along East Arlington Road and Route 7, replacing 75-year-old mains, with further upgrades planned to increase capacity and improve water flow from the artesian well near Sunderland. Separate local obituaries and senior citizens events are also noted from Hoosick Falls area.
