Officials Turn Down $100 Raises
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. The town board adopts a final budget of 128,050.45, $600 under the tentative figure. Town Justice Restino shifts $200 in proposed raises from two justices to Town Clerk George A. McEvoy, who refuses any increase. Justice Sluzas agrees. Councilman Phillips also rejects the $200 raise for himself and Councilman Gorman. The tax rate rises about $4 per thousand, largely to fund a new town garage approved at a special election. Supervisor Murphy and others argued to cut highway equipment but it was deemed necessary this year.
