Bennington water funding plan ties to town source

The village relies on Putnam deed revenues to pay operating expenses and purchase water from Bolles Brook. Williams argues use of department income to buy water aligns with Putnam's intent to provide residents with ample, good water and to reduce the overall tax burden. Tax relief would lessen funds to the hospital, but authorities back the plan, believing the broader benefit to the hospital and Bennington area outweighs short term losses.
