Vermont voters give LBJ landslide victory in 1964 primary
In Montpelier UPI reports Lyndon B Johnson carried Vermont by almost two to one over Barry Goldwater, taking 107,963 to 54,841 votes across 14 GOP counties. Democrat governor Philip Hoff and lieutenant governor also won. The Democrats captured the lieutenant governorship for the first time since the office's creation. Vermont kept its traditional voting patterns in other races, with a Republican U.S. Senator and U.S. Representative re elected.
