About 20 protesters plan a silent vigil at Putnam Square in Bennington on Friday from 5 to 6 pm to urge ending the Vietnam War. Skidmore Freshman Charged in Newborn Death
Cornelia R Owens a 19 year old Skidmore College freshman from Cazenovia was charged with manslaughter in the death of a baby boy allegedly born Sunday night in Hammond Hall. The infant body was found in a cardboard box at the city dump after police traced trash collection to the college. At a Saratoga Hospital arraignment Owens was held on bail set at 5000 with the case adjourned to June 23 in City Court.
