Vermont sees mixed tax readout as sales rise
Vermont's early 1971 indicators show 3 percent sales tax receipts near 5.5 million by end of March, up about 0.75 million from last year, while income tax total is about 9.0 million, down 1.5 million. April adds 3.3 million in income taxes and 1.5 million in sales taxes, with employment down, jobless up 73 percent to 13,750, and new home permits rising to 114 though total construction value declines.
