Mayo Cleared Again In Vermont Impeachment Case
The Vermont Senate acquitted Washington County Sheriff Malcolm Mayo on the second impeachment article by a 20 to 8 vote after about an hour of closing arguments. Mayo previously was cleared on the first article, and defense contended Article II involved voluntary actions, not legal requirements. CDC cites 5 million children missing vaccines in measles polio alert
Dr John Witte of the CDC Immunization Division warned that about 30 to 50 percent of preschool children, roughly 5 million, lack proper immunization against polio and measles. Measles outbreaks are rising and polio cases are above last year, threatening central city and ghetto populations alike. An effective oral polio vaccine exists but usage has declined due to high immunity. Through May 15, measles cases reached 23,880 this year versus 13,635 in 1975, with four polio cases reported so far this year.
