Plane wreck found in Readsboro after 1974 disappearance

Four people on board a Beechcraft Debonair missing since August 17 1974 were found by a logger in a wooded area near the Readsboro Searsburg town line. The victims John E Laurie 55 Evelyn Laurie 55 John 16 and Kathleen 14 were identified and autopsies arranged. The flight originated from Lawrence Massachusetts and was headed to Flint Michigan when contact was lost during bad weather near Cambridge New York.

Oil Cleanup Proceeds After Searsburg Crash Spill

Cleanup crews work through the weekend to contain and recover 6000 gallons of No 4 fuel oil spilled when a Merrill tank truck and a second tractor-trailer collided on Route 9 at the foot of Searsburg Mountain.
