Bangladesh progress seen as nation begins to rise from war ashes
A United Nations relief report from Dacca notes improved prospects for rehabilitation in Bangladesh since the war. It cites rising outside aid to about 50 million dollars, 70 million dollars planned for long term projects, and over 60 agencies aiding housing and health. It warns the emergency is not over and many destitute still suffer though the general picture is improving. Roads and bridges are being repaired ahead of the monsoons, and the railway system largely functioning except for the Hardinge and Meghna bridges.
