Shaftsbury Woman In Fair Condition After Train Injury
A Shaftsbury woman, 57 year old Lucy Saunders, was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when struck by a Vermont Railway locomotive near Shaftsbury Town Road 45. She suffered chest injuries, a fractured right leg, and head injuries but was reported in fair condition at Putnam Memorial Hospital. The train, traveling 25 to 30 mph, struck her as she crossed near Route 67, about a half mile from her home.
