Montpelier gas firm seeks PSB OK to quit service
A Montpelier gas supplier seeks PSB permission to discontinue service to about 900 residential and commercial customers after reporting a 72 000 loss last year. PSB officials estimate about 36 000 of the loss affects several businesses owned by attorney Joseph Foti, owner of Capital City Gas Co. Granting the petition could force a sale or a shift to bottled gas, electricity or oil. The firm has not requested a rate increase since 1969 and the petition was discussed at a PSB pre-hearing conference.
