Recommendations Made For Instruction in Art
Vermont public schools should allocate 45 minutes weekly for art in primary grades with 45 minutes more for creative integration, and 60 minutes weekly for upper elementary art plus 60 minutes for integration. Supervisors deserve planning time, pupil loads capped at 20 with split classes if needed, use of part time art teachers where possible, and new schools must include dedicated art rooms with storage, workspace, and a sink.

Novelist To Read From New Book At Bennington College
Bernard Malamud of Bennington College will read from his forthcoming novel The Fixer at 8 p.m. in the Carriage Barn. A noted author with Columbia MA and NYC high school teaching background, Malamud’s recent works include The Natural and The Assistant.
