Hooliganism Prompts Barricade at Lake Paran
NORTH BENNINGTON The Paran Recreations board vows a heavy gate and guard until the season opens in June after vandalism and hot rodding mar the lake area. State police were called to investigate a car tearing around the parking lot. The plan includes a permanent fence to separate parking from the beach and recreation center, and a sinking fund for a new bathhouse. The annual meeting elected Leonard J. Powers as president, with Howard Stevens, Lloyd Pratt, and Edward C. Sweeney in key posts. Directors named for three year terms include Dorothy Hager and Charles Kipp among others. A portable dock project and a June 13 fireworks display are planned.
