Hoffs Authority Battle Over Vermont Budget Bill
Lt Gov John Daley condemned a rider in Vermonts $90.8 million biennial appropriations bill that requires governor approval of any loan or grant over 10,000 from the emergency board. Daley said the provision hamstrings the governors duty to enforce laws and could undermine reform efforts. Richard Mallory defended the rider as giving legislative input on major new programs. The report also covers fire death statistics from NFPA.
