Mt Anthony School District seeks $1.7 million budget

Mt Anthony Union High School District proposes a $1.7 million operating budget to voters at its annual meeting in Bennington. The board, led by John P. Morrissey, will also discuss a June 5 bond issue for 20 classrooms and potential state aid for BCHS students transferring next fall.

Engineers Review Water Project Bids Move to award Bolles Brook plan Tuesday

Bids for the Bolles Brook water project total 412710.84 with eleven bids for the pipe layout and concrete reservoir bids led by Petricca Construction. Lorrin Pitndreigh of Whitman and Howard will assess bids for final recommendations, with construction hoped to begin soon and finish this fall.

Wind Storm Strikes Bennington Area

A windy storm Sunday afternoon delivered rain ice and snow to Bennington with winds up to 47 mph. Power outages affected about 100 customers near Bradford and Gage streets for an hour, limbs fell and several show windows were blown in at Drysdale's and Wilson Ford. Snowfall totaled six inches in Woodford and caused multiple power troubles in Stratton Peru.

Eisenhower Hospitalized at Walter Reed Army Hospital

Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, age 76, is hospitalized at Walter Reed after an attack of vomiting and stomach cramps. Doctors diagnose acute gastroenteritis and he remains in observation in the VIP suite, with Mrs. Eisenhower visiting Sunday.
