Enchantment as Guide to Fairy Tales by Bettelheim
A critic reviews The Uses of Enchantment by Bruno Bettelheim, arguing fairy tales like Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood reveal deep symbolic content that helps children handle separation anxiety, rivalry, and oedipal fears. The review praises Bettelheim’s defense of violent imagery as reflective of the child’s mind, while noting some fatigue in later chapters but affirming the work’s lasting impact on childhood reading.

Robin and Marian film review notes aging heroes and thrills
A mixed but moving critique of Robin and Marian starring Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn. The piece praises acting and photography, notes aging leads add depth, and highlights a stark medieval backdrop with strong battles and a dramatic Sheriff of Nottingham clash. It cites uneven pacing, abrupt dialogue shifts, and a poignant ending that favors the survivor’s perspective.
