The $237000 curriculum improvement grant was awarded to 10 districts not the Mt. Anthony Union School District. Work continues though union building plans failed. The state designated the district as a vocational center this year, but funds depend on constructing a new high school which is now in limbo.
Voters in Mt Anthony union district reject a 2.5 million regional high school proposal by 84 votes amid six district splits. Total 4,312 votes cast with eight invalid, turnout just under 50 percent. board to meet to decide next steps, awaiting guidance from constituent districts.

Johnson says poverty and civil rights require personal sacrifice and invites reporters to bring families to an afternoon White House briefing where women and children may not ask questions.
Harvard Law Dean Erwin Griswold argued Oswald could never have a fair trial given radio and TV coverage of Kennedy assassination events in Dallas. He criticized Dallas officials and warned the Supreme Court would likely agree. The symposium urged ethics codes to balance press freedom with fair trials.
Montpelier station owner Daniel B. Ruggles III of WSKI refused to air Hoff's five minute weekly tape. He cited election year bias and noted he also declines other political segments during campaigns. Ruggles added that Congressman Stafford's monthly report would be similarly declined if proposed weekly reports emerged in an election year.
