Lead tests to study Bennington children's blood lead levels
The Vermont Health Department launches a two phase townwide lead exposure study in Bennington. Under Dr William Watson and Linden Witherell the project signs up families with children ages 1-12 to test water lead levels then, two weeks later, collects blood samples and conducts nerve tests and tooth scans to assess lead burden. Time is critical as the town aims to complete corrosion control by June 1 to reduce lead leaching.
