Bennington Works Program Expanded and Odd Fish Tale
Forty years ago on May 3 1933 selectmen moved three steps toward employing the unemployed. Seven men were put to work on town roads improving the Toaring Stand and aiding the community garden. A North Bennington fish tale claims a 7 inch trout with a 14 inch water snake protruding from it. The snake’s tail two inches visible and nine inches of head and torso protruding from the fish. 25 years ago a village board eyed an expanded summer recreation program and began steps to revive Benton Pond.
