Dorset selectmen counter criticism of Taxpayers and Voters Association
Dorset town officials defend the 1975 budget and procedures amid a Taxpayers and Voters Association letter urging voters to scrutinize methods salaries and expenditures The selectmen cite a unanimous budget vote a 23 000 floating debt claim and a 1972 auditor letter as supporting facts while noting the association lacks officeholders and may not aid the town

Contingency Reserve for Delinquent Taxes Not Acceptable
A 1972 Vermont letter from Maurice T. Keefe to Town Manager Vernon Squiers argues against using a 5000 contingency reserve to cover uncollected delinquent taxes. He notes a 9700 surplus as of 1971 year end, with 10000 delinquent taxes minus 10 percent uncollectable allowance. He explains deficits defined by 32VSA 1523 do not arise from uncollected delinquent taxes under accrual, and contends the proposal does not follow generally accepted municipal procedures.

MIDDLEBURY PROFS LINK Mesoamerican CALENDAR TO INDONESIAN ORIGINS
Middlebury College geographer Dr. Vincent H. Malmstrom argues that a trans Pacific culture from Indonesia settled Central America around 1500 B.C. The finding ties Izapa and other sites to a 260 day sacred calendar and solar year alignment using topographic markers, suggesting Olmec and Maya links and possible magnetism and compass knowledge. He seeks further study to support the controversial theory.
