Montpelier Removes Condemnation Signs at Pavilion Hotel
State officials acted quickly to remove Montpelier condemnation signs on the Pavilion Hotel after Attorney General James Jeffords ordered their removal to avoid contempt. The city, seeking to enforce housing and fire codes, faced a court block due to charter limits. With voter approved charter changes, city leaders aim to extend enforcement and ensure public safety while avoiding prolonged litigation.
