Transfer of Police Cruiser Moves to Rutland Headquarters

State Commissioner of Public Safety William H. Baumann called the transfer of a police cruiser from Shaftsbury Barracks to Troop C Rutland headquarters strictly routine. The move, ordered March 14 at Lt. Albert Christie's request, takes effect in April, reducing Shaftsbury's fleet from six to five while Rutland gains a vehicle due to greater need. Baumann noted a statewide cruiser shortage and said transfers occur to meet needs, assuring local protection remains intact even with rising traffic and spring activity. If Pownal traffic worsens, a vehicle will be sent there, potentially by scooter.
