Pownal Selectmen Back Parimutuel Racing at Green Mountain Park
At a weekly meeting the Pownal board approved sending a letter to Governor Snelling and state officials urging efforts to maintain parimutuel racing at Green Mountain Park. The letter, drafted by the Track Liaison Committee, argues that removing daily racing fees would cut town revenue and reduce real estate values. The board took no action on the proposed bitch-in-heat ordinance, noting enforcement challenges and a large unlicensed dog population, while agreeing to compile a town dog list for licensing enforcement.
