Berkshire murder and arson notes from Stockbridge and North Adams
In Stockbridge, the father of 26 year old William W. Stone identifies his son as the dead man found nude near Ice Glen Road. Pathologist Dr. Ambrose Keeley cites a self inflicted stab wound to the heart as probable, with cold exposure as a possible factor. Stone faced a prior assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charge from Jan. 29. In North Adams, investigators ruled out arson in the Hunter Outdoor Products Co fire, while a threatening call preceded the blaze. Vice President Joseph Martin called the report coincidental and expressed relief.
