San Francisco Mayor Alioto Calls Indictment a Fake
The federal grand jury indicted Mayor Joseph L. Alioto of San Francisco and others on bribery mail fraud and conspiracy in a $2.3 million fee split from an anti trust suit involving 15 Washington cities and public utilities districts. Alioto dismissed the charges as a 14 carat fake and said he would plead innocent. He planned to seek a change of venue to San Francisco while continuing as mayor.
