North Street restaurant fire prompts state investigation
Fire damaged the basement and first floor of a two story building on North Street housing a restaurant owned by Daniel and cynthia Pierce. The Bennington Fire Department fought the blaze past 2 a.m. and a blast was heard nearby though officials ruled out gas or oil tank. The State Fire Marshal will determine the cause as occupants of an adjacent building heard an explosion. No loss estimate available.
