Edgerton's Sawmill Preserves Vermont Grain of Tradition
Dorset reports Edgerton's sawmill, one of two remaining local industries, preserves a long Vermont heritage. Operated by Ernest Edgerton since the 1800s site, the mill uses water power from the Mettowee River and processes pine, spruce, hemlock, birch, maple, oak and cherry into rough boards. Six workers saved a million board feet last year, with lumber stored, air dried, or sold green.
