Irish leader predicts peaceful unification amid terror push
In London a massive security crackdown ran trains and stations with over 1,000 police and plainclothes officers. Bomb threats and past attacks dominated headlines as authorities warned of letter bombs in St Patrick’s Day cards. In Belfast a sixth sectarian murder this year was reported, and two people died in a Dungannon bombing near Belfast. Irish Prime Minister Liam Cosgrave told NBC Today that Ireland will be unified by democracy, not violence, though he acknowledged difficulties if British troops withdraw.
