Shaftsbury Scouts Campout Amazed by Winter Camp
Fourteen boys from Boy Scout Troop 331 traveled to Camp Plymouth at Tyson for a snowbound weekend. They used snowshoes to reach the site as deer roamed leantos, slept in old Adirondack leantos, and some slept under a picnic table. They hiked, climbed a nearby mountain, practiced a compass course, and held a council fire with popcorn and songs. Sunday featured worship planning, sledding, and a crusty hill ride. Several leaders and locals attended, including Scoutmaster Henry Freely and others, while Mrs. James Hoe of Weston, Conn., noted for a Vermont property, travels in the Far East.
