Humphrey to repay taxes on veto papers donation
Senator Hubert Humphrey will pay back taxes on about 199 thousand dollars he deducted for donating his vice presidential papers to the Minnesota Historical Society. An IRS ruling disallowed deductions for restricted access donations, plus six percent interest. The former vice president will owe taxes on the disallowed amount for 1969 to 1972, though an exact bill has not yet arrived.

Loyalty oath reassures GOP seeks to head off third party
White House and Vice President Rockefeller approve a loyalty pledge circulated among Republicans to unite the party. John Rhodes and John Anderson report wide backing in the House and Senate, while governors and state chairmen receive the document. Critics warn it could mute dissent and fail to stem talk of a conservative third party in 1976.

FBI traced Patricia Hearst and several SLA members to a shabby farmhouse in northeastern Pennsylvania last fall. Residents described a two story unkempt residence on a dirt road near Honesdale Carbondale, with a mailbox labeled Schott.
