Snow wins top state safety award for 4-H program

Bennington County 4-H bicycle safety program reduced town accidents by half and earned county Ex tension youth agent William Snow a $25 General Motors award. Over 2,000 4-H members participated last year, learning bike safety, Vermont laws, lights, reflectors, and safe riding. A tractor safety course for 14 and 15 year olds reduced farm equipment incidents. About 25 counties nationwide received similar 4-H safety honors. In a separate note, a University of Minnesota Hospital study found longer patient stays during noisy periods.
