Still Ample Jobs Open To Farmers In Vermont
Vermonters face a tight balance in the agricultural labor market as about 8 000 year round farm jobs and 20 000 seasonal harvest roles have vanished since 1937. Siegfried M Martinetti, farm placement supervisor for the Department of Employment Security, notes demand remains for skilled workers and explains the better hands have been absorbed over the years. He adds the hired man is fading even before mechanization and invites workers to seek well paid positions. Martinetti shared these observations in Employment Security Review from the Bureau of Employment Security in Washington.
