Vermont Senate Advances Two Constitutional Amendments and Pharmacy Bill
The Vermont Senate moved three of more than a dozen anticipated constitutional amendments forward as rules require full text in the calendar five days before floor consideration. A bill limiting the human services secretary’s power to regulate the pharmacy industry passed 27 to 2, restricting mail order prescription sales and price advertising, while a reform of the judicial branch proposal was postponed to next week as a minority effort to stall. The chamber also approved ending Vermont’s longstanding ban on election day alcohol sales.

Public auction off Manchester Printing Co called off
The public auction of the Manchester Printing Co property scheduled for Friday morning has been canceled after Rutland car rental dealer Maurice Buxton reported the $860 judgment against the publisher was satisfied. The suit, filed by Buxton over a February car rental breach, led to a writ served last Aug. 18 with an Oct. 26 district court judgment and an execution that would have allowed sale to satisfy the debt. Buxton’s attorney Donald Hackel filed notice Jan. 30 confirming payment.
