Bennington College public relations chief Alan Jon Fortney resigned after more than four years citing loss of respect for faculty and a manufactured battle of principles amid recent upheavals. He informed board chairman Merrell Hambleton Friday as trustees also faced resignations following the Parker and Thain departures in January.

Sentencing set for 11 a.m. March 8 after a pre sentence investigation. The maximum penalty is 10 years and $500 fine. Capriola could face disbarment by the Vermont Bar Association.
