Revote possibility after mixed up Shaftsbury school election
Shaftsbury selectmen discussed a possible revote on June 24 school district articles after complaints about voting procedures. The school board seeks guidance, while critics allege violations of state law in ballot handling and a disputed Dimke ballot use. Construction likely next spring for U.S. 7 project
After four years of delay the Bennington to Arlington segment of U.S. Route 7 faces possible spring 1977 construction. Attorney Harvey D. Carter Jr. said a Supreme Court decision makes further court action unlikely though a remaining injunction from 1972 could require new court action before any work starts. The highway would be a two lane divided road on a four lane right of way with 70 percent federal funding and a projected cost up to 30 million dollars.
