Mantua artist finds bucolic success in hometown scenes
Frank Hubbard, 63, paints realistic oils and watercolors of Mantua and Ravenna, selling two or three works monthly for about 150 dollars each. He runs a small studio across from the old railroad station, teaches part time, and finances the space through sales and a portrait-related sideline, while his son promotes his work on the East Coast.

He cites precision guided munitions and automated systems as lowering target error, enabling mobility and remote spotting while risking greater civilian harm and global militarization. A Lima garden note follows, highlighting a Japanese Garden donated for $450,000 in Parque de la Exposi.

South Pole winter crew enters second half of stay
Seventeen men began the long Antarctic winter at the Amundsen Scott station as 10 scientists conduct weather and other studies. They will remain until October as darkness continues, with nearby Russian station 78 miles away. The project reported equipment issues from freezing diesel fuel, a water pump, a leaky water melter, and an ice clogged exhaust stack. The base, built under a 52-foot dome, includes gym, pool, sauna, library, workshop, broadcasting, and amateur radio facilities. On June 12, twelve men joined the “three hundred club” after moving from sauna heat to minus 100 degree air.
