Burgess apologizes over Moulton resignation remark
Lt. Gov. Burgess says radio comments were misread as calling for Development Sec retary Elbert G. Moulton Jr. to resign. He issued a regretful statement clarifying he did not demand resignation, noting such a move requires full factual knowledge. The interview followed statewide publicity about Moulton admitting falsifying expense accounts. The piece also lists grievance letters from residents and notes a public hearing setup by the state Water Resources Board on July 19 for John M. Kirk’s dam project in Addison County.

State official blasts Vermont pollution rules as economic threat
Walton Elliott of Fayston and the Vermont Ski Areas Association warned that new air pollution controls could halt ski trail construction after 1973 and turn Vermont into an economic wasteland. He argued the rules miss big issues while targeting minor problems, with support from some conservationists and opposition from power and business groups.
