Five Army Helos Lost in Saigon Area Crashes

UPI reports five American combat helicopters lost within 24 hours in Saigon area causing 36 deaths. A freak three way collision killed 29 personnel, as two UH-1 helicopters collided in flight and the wreckage struck a third helicopter nearby.

District 32 seat sought by Robert LaMorder

Robert M. La Morder announced candidacy for one of District 32’s two seats in the Vermont legislature. The Wilmington barber and inn operator has long been active in local and state Democratic groups. He favors zoning reform, tech-school education, highway upgrades, selective timber cutting with reseeding, and accelerated sewage disposal. He is active in sportsmen and civic groups in southern Vermont.

Four North Korean infiltrators killed near DMZ

South Korean troops near the DMZ killed four infiltrators today four miles south of the southern boundary of the truck line. The clash followed a report from woodcutters and involved a machine gun and ammunition seized by South Korean forces. The incident marks the third border flare up in a week amid the 18th anniversary of the Korean war. President Park warned North Korea was escalating to pave a takeover of South Korea.
