UVM Tuition Rise Tied to State Budget Cut
University of Vermont President John T. Fey warned that a $500,000 cut in UVM's appropriation approved by the Senate could trigger tuition hikes for both in-state and out-of-state students. Vermont residents would pay $100 more and nonresidents $300 more, with a deficit possible for fiscal 1964 and a possible September rise. Governor Hoff backed a $4.7 million budget recommendation, House support exceeded it by $2.1 million. Fey noted potential deficit and early tuition increases if cuts proceed.
