Six year old survives 94 hour mountain ordeal

In San Bernardino California a 6 year old boy named Matthew Zimmer lay comatose after wandering four days in rugged mountains. Found in a snowbank at 8300 feet with little clothing, he was saved by a Sheriff deputy and a Marine helicopter crew. Surgeons at North Base and St Bernardine’s Hospital treated him. Col. Payne said he had only hours to live. About 250 searchers using helicopters jeeps horses and bloodhounds hunted within a 10 mile radius of Barton Flats.
