Bennington Leash Law Frustrations Prompt Plea for Enforcement
A Bennington resident Mrs. Clarence Peckham says the town leash law is useless without enforcement. She and neighbor Mrs. Jones report dogs roaming Division Street yards and gardens, posing health risks and creating constant dog complaints. The two women praise the dog catcher George Rogers while criticizing the lack of owner accountability and the town’s suggestion to fence private property. Mrs. Peckham supports raising penalties from five to twenty five dollars if enforcement improves.
